Frequently Asked Questions
I hope the below information answers the questions you may have about beginning therapy with me. If you are still curious about what it would be like to work with me, please reach out. I provide a free 10 minute consult call to all potential new clients.
What cities do you serve?
My therapy office is physically located in Overland Park, Kansas. However, I provide virtual therapy to clients located in anywhere in the following states: Washington State and Kansas. Telehealth is a convenient way to receive supportive counseling without worrying about commuting. If you have never tried telehealth before or have questions about what it is like, please contact me and we can talk more about what to expect.
Do you only treat trauma?
No, I see a wide variety of issues and help clients who want to experience better emotional wellbeing and understand themselves better. Trauma Therapy and EMDR are my areas of clinical concentration, however I also have other areas I enjoy working with such as: self-esteem, anxiety, perfectionism, life transitions, grief and loss, and depression.
What ages do you see?
I treat ages 18 and up. I often work with young adults, new Mothers, and other helpers (teachers, counselors, nurses, etc.).
What can I expect from a first appointment?
Prior to your first appointment you will receive an email to a Client Portal where you will be required to fill out paperwork telling me more information about yourself, such as why you are seeking Counseling at this time. This introductory paperwork contains Informed Consent so you can be fully informed about my policies such as confidentiality, payment, and record keeping. Once the paperwork is complete I will send you a teletherapy link to click on at the time of our appointment. All you need for your first teletherapy session is a good internet connection, a comfortable, confidential space with a closed door, a smart phone or computer, and headphones. The intake session lasts 60 minutes and we will discuss your history, what you would like to achieve in therapy and what the process will look like.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out of network provider and do not bill insurance. I provide a Superbill for clients to submit to insurance when requested. Often clients are able to use their Health Savings Account to pay for sessions and/or receive out of network reimbursement from their insurance provider. I charge $160 per 50 minute session and $185 for a 60 minute intake session.
How do I set up an appointment with you?
